There are a lot of things to love about New York Fashion Week. You get a chance to flex your street style, you gain backstage access to the beauty industry's top artists, and you get to chat it up with up-and-coming as well as uber-famous models. If you ask us though, nothing trumps the rush we get when we spot new products backstage.
Fashion Week has become the place to test out new products that have either just hit stores or will be dropping in the coming year. That's why we always keep an eye out for an unfamiliar bottle or tube. For spring '17, we saw a host of makeup, hair, and nail products that are sure to excite any beauty enthusiast. Brand-new texturizers, nail polishes, concealers, and gloss abounded on the runways and we suspect we'll be seeing variations of these products in many spring collections next year.
So check out the slides ahead for a sneak peek on all the newness coming to a beauty aisle near you. And get your wallets ready — we suspect you'll want to throw all your money at these newcomers.
At Victoria Beckham's Spring 2017 show, makeup artist Pat McGrath created three smoky eyes in different shades: metallic blue, green, and glossy nude.
McGrath used Beckham's eyeshadow palette (part of her brand-new collection with Estée Lauder), while leaving the rest of the face bare and dewy. Unfortunately, it is already sold out, but we have reached out to Estée Lauder for restocking information and will update you when we hear back.

At Creatures Of The Wind's spring '17 show, hairstylist Holli Smith twisted together this messy, 3D chignon — the perfect complement to fresh skin and red lips.

Smith relied on Bumble and Bumble's new Strong Finish Firm Hold Hairspray which, according to Smith, is ideal for finishing editorial looks. We're already envisioning the slicked-back ponies we plan on creating with this stuff.

If this year's Spring 2017 shows taught us anything, it's that effortless texture isn't going anywhere. Case in point: Zac Posen.

This new curl-enhancing spray from Moroccanoil was a key player in achieving each model's wispy, undone strands. Hairstylist Odile Gilbert generously doused each model's hair with the liquid for a gritty finish.

Although the Marc Jacobs' spring '17 show received a lot of criticism for the use of dreadlocks, the sheer, pastel nails were far less controversial.

The models wore alternating shades of these limited-edition pastel polishes — which went on sale the night of the show. Unfortunately, the pastel bottles sold out almost immediately, but we've reached out to the brand for more information about a restock and will update this post when we hear back.

No-makeup-makeup lovers will love the look at Oscar De La Renta's show. The models wore just a touch of concealer on the face and some color in the brows for definition.

Makeup artist Tom Pecheux relied on this new angled brow pencil, which made it super easy to draw on and blend faux brow hairs — especially on an army of 20+ models.

During NYFW, MAC also gave us a sneak peek at its new Makeup Art Cosmetics collection hitting stores this Spring. The lineup includes products created with makeup artists Diane Kendal and Kabuki (peep that gorgeous eye gloss!).

"The look we're doing is a beach look so we're giving them a really tanned face — like that old '60s, '70s tan," makeup artist Sil Bruinsma said of the makeup look at Thom Browne.

Bruinsma perfected the skin using one of the aforementioned palettes from Diane Kendal. He also generously swept MAC's new bronzer, called "Feeling Hot Hot Hot," all over each model's face. (We'd recommend maybe going with a lighter touch.) Both products will launch in spring 2017.
