These Celebrities Define #SisterGoals

Sharing the spotlight is difficult for any star. When you’re working the red carpet, splitting a magazine spread, or constantly having your careers compared, one would think sibling rivalry would take over. Not so with these celebrity sisters! These ladies don’t let their differences get in the way of supporting each other’s endeavors or spoiling their ever-growing families. They keep the #sisterlove spreading like wildfire across their social media platforms.

As such, we’re celebrating sisterhood by highlighting some of our favorite sets of celebrity siblings. The love they have for one another is truly #sistergoals — not to mention #friendshipgoals, too. Scroll down to see your favorites and, of course, share this with your sister (even if she’s from another mister).

Gigi & Bella Hadid

Though the pair got their first taste of the spotlight with appearances alongside their mother Yolanda Foster on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the sisters have stormed fashion’s biggest runways. One would think the Hadids are competitive, but Bella says it couldn’t be further from the truth. “I can’t keep comparing myself to [Gigi], because we’re so different. But people still love to compare and contrast us — what’s better about her or what’s not that good about me — and it’s hard because people are really mean,” she explained to Seventeen. Just don’t expect her to go back to blonde. As she told Allure, “I just have a darker personality. Blondes are so angelic. My sister can get away with anything.”

Beyoncé & Solange

Sisterhood is all about sticking together — and there’s no pair that can compare to the Knowles girls. We all know how dedicated Solange is to her older sister (see: The Met Ball incident) but in no way does she stand in her big sis' shadow. There are even rumors abuzz that the style showstopper has influenced Beyoncé’s latest project, Lemonade, through the list of the album’s collaborators and its theme of sisterhood. “I have always had tremendous respect for my sister as an artist, as a woman, and now as a mother,” Solange told Vogue. Also, let’s be honest: Solange takes the best pics of her niece Blue Ivy. Style is in the blood.

Elizabeth, Mary-Kate, & Ashley Olsen

In case you were wondering, yes, all three of the Olsens have shared the screen. But you might miss it on their IMDB pages. During a 2012 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Elizabeth shared a clip from The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley - The Case of Thorn Mansion. Surprisingly, she had no idea just how successful her sisters were at such a young age and caught the acting bug herself just a few years later. Don’t worry, Elizabeth doesn’t mind the comparisons to her sisters. "You know you're going to be compared [with them] for the rest of your life," she told Allure earlier this summer. "You grow up and get over it, and you love your family regardless."

Sasha & Malia Obama

Growing up in the White House can’t be easy, but Sasha and Malia Obama are clearly having a blast if that famous snapshot with Ryan Reynolds is any indication (way to go, Sasha!). The pair were only 7 and 10, respectively, when their dad first became president. Together, they've grown up in the public eye.

The Obamas worked hard to give the girls as normal of a life as possible. "They're like regular kids — they're running in the opposite direction of what we do...they're trying to hang with their friends,” the FLOTUS told ET. Though perks like meeting Reynolds at a State Dinner or scoring an internship on the set of Girls doesn’t hurt.

Emily & Zooey Deschanel

The Deschanel sisters may get along now, but things weren’t always so friendly when they were growing up. “I would kind of torture her — I was the older sister, and it was just the two of us,” Emily explained to Conan O’Brien. “We would physically fight all the time, and I would play mental games with her. My favorite was that I was Neptunian. It got to a point where I had to make my eyes a little wide to freak her out.”

As adults, the two are close, physically and emotionally. They not only work near each other’s sets on their respective Fox shows ( Bones and New Girl), but they had their babies within two months of each other. Ah, the circle of life!

Poppy & Cara Delevingne

Fashion clearly runs in the Delevingne family. Poppy was the first to hit the fashion scene in 2008, making way for little sister Cara’s explosive debut in 2012. But there’s no competition or love lost between the two, even as Cara transitioned to acting (which was her ultimate goal).

"She's my baby sister — I could talk about her until I'm blue in the face," Poppy joked during an appearance on the U.K. morning show Lorraine. "I know her name is on everyone's lips at the moment and I really couldn't be prouder of her. I'm so proud every single day." Poppy’s still rocking the runway and sharing her stories as a contributing editor for Love as Cara makes her appearance in the summer blockbuster Suicide Squad.

Jennifer & Lynda Lopez

We’re always protective of our younger siblings, with many of us acting as extra surrogate parents, regardless of birth order. This couldn’t be more true than with Jennifer and Lynda, who you may have seen on the small screen or heard on the radio interviewing her sister and other celebs over the years. Though Jennifer has an older sister, Leslie, Lynda saw the singer and actress as the adult in their family. “Despite the fact that we’re two years apart, I always saw [Jennifer] as a grown-up, someone who wasn’t just someone I was close to, my friend,” Lynda explained on The Huffington Post Live. “[She was] someone I could lean on and who would take care of me. I always felt like I had someone to take care of me.”

Dakota & Elle Fanning

Raiding each other’s closets is a rite of passage all sisters face, especially when you’re a Fanning. With designer duds from Rodarte, Alexander McQueen, Versace, who wouldn’t? While Elle used to snap up pieces from Dakota’s closet back in the day, it seems the roles have reversed, thanks to the younger sister’s penchant for fierce fashion. “I’m not sure why she’d be interested in my clothes,” she told Lucky in 2014. “They’re so boring compared to everything she wears — now I’m looking in her closet for a little treat when I go home.” Uh-oh, I wonder how Elle feels about that!

Rooney & Kate Mara

Sibling rivalry is a given, no matter what, but it doesn’t help when the media constantly compares both of your careers. Though Kate was the first to start acting (with a role on Law & Order), many believed that Rooney had eclipsed her older sister when she landed the role of Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

But the Mara girls know family comes first, regardless of the other’s success. “[M]y sister and I know that, while it may be both of our passions, it is just a job at the end of the day. It’s not the most important thing to either of us,” she said in a 2014 interview with The Independent. “It’s quite surreal that we both are so lucky in the success of it all.”

Venus & Serena Williams

It’s never easy competing with a sibling, but to do so countless times in front of millions sounds nearly impossible...unless you’re the Williams sisters. Armed with a pair of mean backhands, they took to the court professionally when they were 14 (Venus in ‘94 and Serena in ‘95).

Despite sweeping tournaments and climbing the ranks, the pair haven’t let their personal success get in the way of family. The two watch each other’s games and even teamed up for doubles play, winning three gold medals at the Olympics. “Until 8:30 p.m., we’ll be friends,” Serena said before their 2002 U.S. Open final. “When the match is over, we’ll be friends again...family's first and that's what matters most, because anything can happen. We realize that our love goes deeper than the tennis game.”

Hilary & Haylie Duff

When it comes to advice, most usually look to their older siblings for insight on life’s milestones. But instead of younger sister Hilary sharing her insights with Haylie (Hilary’s son, Luca, is 4; Haylie’s daughter, Ryan, is 1), they focus on physically being there and supporting each other’s journey through motherhood. Neither wants to be heavy-handed with their advice or feed into the mommy wars. “In the first few weeks of having Ryan, when I would be so exhausted or I didn’t know what to do, she would just come and be at the house and just help me. She would just hold [Ryan] if she needed to or just swaddle her if she needed to,” Haylie explained to Celebuzz. “We don’t really give each other advice when it comes to stuff like that. We try to just support how the other feels.”

The Kardashian-Jenner Clan

Having a strong support system is essential when you cause as much conversation as they do. On Keeping Up with the Kardashians, we’ve watched the tight-knit family lean on one another over whatever obstacle they’re faced with and cheer for one another’s success. Given all of the negative comments they receive on a daily basis, the family doesn’t take kindly to those who mess with them (we’re looking at you, Taylor Swift).

Though Kim has shown she’s an expert at throwing shade, Khloé has always been the most fiercely protective, coming to the defense of Caitlyn, Rob, and Kim on Twitter. “I am a lion and these are my cubs,” she explained to Complex last year. “Don’t fuck with my cubs, ’cause I will rip your head off.”
