Parents and social media may not always mix well, but consider Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Lawson, the exception to the rule. The superstar mom, fashion designer, and motivational speaker has taken a few cues from her two daughters when it comes to building a loyal Instagram following. Ever since the Knowles matriarch bounced back from a contentious divorce and found love again, Tina has been living her best life — feeling happier and stronger — and showing us all the way online. Mama Tina’s got a brand new bag and has given us a glimpse of her world, one Instagram photo at a time. And well, let’s just say it’s clear where Queen Bey gets her flawlessness.

If you have yet to hit that follow button, make the change now. We promise it's worth it. These are the top six reasons why you need to get in formation and follow Tina Lawson, stat.

1. She’s not afraid to show off bae.

When you’re this dangerously in love, you can’t help but show it. Mama Tina and her husband, actor Richard Lawson, got hitched in April 2015 at an all-white affair aboard a pimped-out yacht. In case there was any doubt, the two are still head-over-heels for each other. Whether it’s a photo of the pair stepping out for date night or taking full advantage of the free samples at Costco (so relatable), we can’t get enough of seeing Mama Tina happy and loving life.

2. She’s not a regular grandma. She’s a cool grandma.

Miss Tina’s grandchildren Julez and Blue Ivy are her heart and soul. But she doesn’t spend her time with them sitting around baking pies and knitting sweaters. She’s letting her hair down and teaching her grandkids the fundamentals of being fierce.

3. Like all of us, she knows her daughter slays.

Perhaps the most convincing reason to follow Mama Tina on Instagram is to get an extra dose of candid and stunning Beyoncé photos. It’s no secret that Queen Bey and Mother Bey have a tight relationship. Miss Tina is Beyoncé’s biggest cheerleader, always applauding her daughter’s work ethic and sharing extra-special family moments that we rarely get to see otherwise.

4. She showers other celebs with motherly love, too.

As a major influence behind the scenes of Destiny’s Child, as well as a guiding light in Beyoncé’s solo career, Mama Tina has become a mentor to many rising stars along the way. She’s often pictured with other acts, like Monica, Keke Palmer, and (basically) her third daughter Kelly Rowland, and she never passes on an opportunity to sing their praises. What’s amazing about this is Miss Tina understands the power of women uplifting one another, which just happened to be a major theme in Lemonade.

5. Her “us-ies” are just as good as her selfies.

Let’s face it — selfies are the norm, but us-ies are highly underrated. Just ask Miss Tina. Her Instagram offers a healthy mix of solo pics with impeccable angles and lightning, along with group shots of her family and groups of friends.

6. She gives us flawless face, even when caught off guard.

It’s safe to say Mama Tina might have birthed the concept of “I Woke Up Like This.” The 62-year-old serves effortless face on her Instagram page whether primped and done up or lounging around care- and makeup-free.
