After last week’s sweeping wins for Donald Trump, things are looking more challenging for the remaining Republican candidates.
After Trump won all five states that voted on April 26, tonight’s Indiana primary is unlikely to have much promise to move the needle for second- and third-place runners Ted Cruz and John Kasich. At the moment, Trump is leading the race by 410 delegates. The Hoosier State has only 57 delegates to award the candidates.
Indiana is Cruz’s turf, according to an agreement between his campaign and Kasich’s. In late April, the two Republican hopefuls split certain remaining states between them and promised not to campaign against each other. Cruz claimed Indiana , while Kasich devotes efforts to Oregon and New Mexico. Despite the agreement, FiveThirtyEight gives Cruz only a 19% chance of winning the state.
Polls begin closing at 6 p.m. EDT, and we’ll be updating here with the expected winners as they become clear. Ahead, catch up on the results from contests held so far. And be sure to check back to see which candidate emerges the winner of the day.
