We're treated to Afros, cornrows, twist-outs, freeform curls, and sleek buns. We see women with long waves and intricately braided updos — and many of the styles are worn by Beyoncé throughout the hour-long special.
From her throwback cornrows to the long, blown-out Beyoncé tresses that she tosses on stage, we rounded up just a few of the best, fiercest, most unapologetically beautiful hairstyles from Beyoncé's Lemonade. Click ahead and prepare to be slayed.
Editors' note: A former version of this article incorrectly stated that Beyonce wore box braids in the music videos. We have corrected the mistake.
Beyoncé's hair is actually hidden in the first few scenes of Lemonade. She rocks a hoodie in a cornfield, her hair completely covered. But she also wears two headwraps: one black as she sits alone on a stage and this beautifully printed headscarf.
When Beyoncé dives off of a building and lands into a watery dream — viewing herself while floating — we see this look. Beyoncé serves up some serious mermaid hair.
When she emerges from the abyss, Beyoncé walks through the streets with a baseball bat and all of the rage. She also shows us what that mermaid hair looks like while dry: Long, ombré blonde tresses crimped down to her bum.
Beyoncé asks, "Who the fuck do you think I am?" with these long, blonde cornrows. We've seen them before in "Formation" and way back when The Writings On The Wall was released. The message is clear: Remember exactly who I am.
Beyoncé is serving us Diana Ross realness here: combed out curls left to be free. In these scenes, she's head-banging to her music with rage. And there's no better hair for that.
Beyoncé brings back those Formation pigtail braids we love so much. The top is left loose, with soft curls.
As she croons with The Weeknd, Beyoncé appears with her hair in a series of twists and braids. The end result is a soft updo that feels like a throwback to old school New Orleans.
As the house behind her burns, Beyoncé rocks a pinned-up bob that looks effortless, with a touch of soft curls.
Beyoncé goes country with long twists that are giving us serious #hairgoals.
The world is spinning in this shot and Beyoncé's hair is up in two ponytails. The multiple hair ties create a cool effect.
Beyoncé reminds us that she can sing and play the piano. The "Forgiveness" sequence is stripped-down and minimalist — and so is Beyoncé's hair. She has soft, free curls while crooning with the keyboard and reconnecting with her husband.
After several moving shots of Black women and the sons that were taken from them, Beyoncé rivets the crowd with her powerful vocals. Her hair is in the familiar loose style we've seen her rock countless times.
This is just one of the many shots featuring all of the beautiful hair from the Lemonade special. It celebrates how varied — and lovely — Black hair can be. Here, you can see Zendaya's lovely braided hairdo and Amandla Stenberg's gorgeous Afro.
